The National Trust,

UK Wide

Plant a tree in memory or celebration of a loved one via the National Trust, and you will support their aim of planting 20 million trees over the next 10 years. Their is a suggested minimum donation amount of £5 as this is what it costs to plant one new sapling. You can donate more. 

Saplings are not planted in any specific National Trust location in the UK and will not be marked. You cannot be there to see the sapling planted. A certificate of planting will be sent within 5 working days.

Heart of England Forest, Midlands

Dedicate a sapling tree in the Heart of England forest in South Warwickshire and you will support the project to grow the largest new native forest in England.

 

For £12, Trees are not individually marked trees but your tree will be right at the heart of the forest as it grows. They will also send you a certificate afterwards.

For £35, you can have your tree tagged with your personalised message on a metal tag and you will be sent a certificate, map and a grid reference to help you find your tree.

For £150, you can have a tree planting ceremony with personalised plaque.

Moor Trees,

Devon

Every year Moor Trees volunteers plant thousands of native trees around Dartmoor and South Devon.

They can plant on or more saplings on your behalf for a relative or to honour an important event. 

They cannot be specific about the planting site until 2 weeks beforehand.

Planting is on a Sunday by volunteers and you can take part if you wish.

Your tree will not be identified as it will be part of a whole conservation woodland. They cannot guarantee public access after planting. as it could be private land. A certificate of planting is provided.

RSPB Celebration Wood, Peak District

RSPB's Celebration Wood is part of the Peak District National Park, with views over the Dove Stone Valley.. In dedicating a tree in the wood, RSPB will plant a  young 1.5 - 2 meter high tree guaranteed for 10 years 

You can choose from a selection of native trees and attend the planting of the tree, the timing of which is arranged with you. You may bury ashes underneath and wildflowers will also be planted under its boughs. You may return to visit..​

You will be offered two handmade leaf-shaped ceramic markers inscribed with a short message of your choice. One stays with the tree; the other is yours to keep.

The suggested donation price is £495, which covers the purchase and care for the tree and the Celebration Wood.

Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust

Dedicate a native broadleaf tree sapling with YDMT helps create new woodlands in and around the Yorkshire Dales.

 

Step 1 = Choose a wood. Either Low Branthwaites wood in Sedbergh or Ormsgill Wood in Malhamdale.

 

Step 2 = Select to receive your tree dedication by post or online. 

Step 3 = If you choose to receive your tree certificate by email your will get it straight away. For postal orders they send you or the recipient of your gift) a personalised certificate. You can also send a woodland gift card with your own personal message printed inside.

The National Forest, Midlands

The National Forest is a 200 square mile forest spanning Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire. Each tree sapling order comes with a personalised certificate and a choice of 6 tree species, Oak, Hazel, Rowan, Silver Birch, Lime or Wild Cherry . 

Trees are planted in the next available planting season, which runs from November to March, and orders placed from 1 November 2020 will be planted during the 2021/22 season. The tree saplings are 40-60cm tall. At the end of the season, the location of the woodland is confirmed and how to visit but individual trees are not marked. Alternatively you can join one of their special planting events, and personally plant your tree in the Forest

Trees for Life,

Scotland

When you order your gift, a native tree sapling will be planted for you by Trees for Life in the Scottish Highlands, They will send you, or the recipient of your choice, a colourful certificate with your own message. There are 4 certificate designs to choose from. 

A printed certificate is £19.99 including free UK delivery. E-certificates are £17.99. Each certificate includes one tree and more trees can be added for £6 each.

Your tree(s) will be planted at Dundreggan, near Loch Ness. Dundreggan includes ancient Caledonian pinewoods and birch and juniper woodlands. The tree (s) will not be identified and you cannot plant it yourself, but can visit the planted area.

John Muir Trust,

Scotland

John Muir Trust's Plant a Tree gift supports work to regenerate native woodlands in three wild Scottish landscapes, restoring ecosystems and encouraging the return of wildlife such as pine marten and red squirrel. The  three locations where your tree can be planted are Skye. Glenlude on the Scottish Border or Schiehallion, Perthshire HIghlands. 

The £15 cost includes the planting and protection of a sapling and comes with a gift pack that includes a certificate with personalised message, a confirmation letter and information about the conservation work supported. These are sent within 10 days of order.

Manchester

City of Trees

City of Trees is the Greater Manchester part of the Northern Forest. They plant trees across Manchester during tree planting season (November – March). These can be sapling trees in urban areas, new woodland, orchards, in schools as well as street trees. 

 

You can attend any tree planting events throughout the year, promoted on their website (www.cityoftrees.org.uk/events).

They also hold a special ‘Dedicate a Tree’ planting event on a Saturday in March (date and location project dependent) which you will receive an invitation to.

You will get a personalised PDF e-certificate which contains your tree dedication, but no location is specified. No plaque or other memorial can be placed against any tree you plant.

The Woodland Trust, UK Wide

You can make a dedication in a number of selected Woodland Trust woods across the UK, allowing you to choose somewhere meaningful. Each sapling tree or area is only dedicated once so will be unique to you. Dedications start from just £20 for a single sapling or you can dedicate a woodland from £250 per quarter acre..

The Woodland Trust will send you: 

  • a certificate with your own personal message

  • information about your chosen wood with a map to help you find the dedicated area.

The pack is sent the by post but if time is of the essence, it can be sent instantly by email. You can also choose to have it sent either directly to you or to your loved one.
